Retirement Plan Advisor Charles Williams, CFP®, CRPC®, AAMS, CRPS®, AIF® Joins the Retirement Advisor Council

East Granby, CT – March 5, 2015 Charles Williams, CFP®, CRPC®, AAMS, CRPS®, AIF® has joined the Retirement Advisor Council effective January 1, 2015. 

As Managing Director for Sheridan Road Financial, Mr. Williams provides investment management, plan design consulting, plan sponsor fiduciary training, nonqualified deferred compensation plan design and financing analysis and participant education to 55 clients with 25,000 participants and $700 million in plan assets. Mr. Williams is a frequent presenter at industry conferences, and he serves as an adjunct professor at the School of Continuing Studies at Northwestern University where he teaches an employee benefits course for students preparing to become Certified Financial Planners.

Mr. Williams was nominated for a seat on the Council in September 2014.  The Nomination Committee recommended his application for Council membership after a comprehensive review process that took multiple factors into consideration including his extensive expertise in investments and plan regulations, his ability to effectively interact with client committee members at all levels, and his creative use of a point system to monitor and make watch-list decisions regarding investment funds.  The Executive Board of the Council approved Mr. Williams’ nomination in January 2015.

The Retirement Advisor Council is a national organization that advocates for successful qualified plan and participant retirement outcomes through the collaborative efforts of experienced, qualified retirement plan advisors, investment managers and defined contribution plan service providers.  To advance its mission, the Council undertakes initiatives in the areas of research, public relations and promotion, general public education, regulatory positions and practice management.  The Council accomplishes this mission by:

  • Identifying duties, responsibilities, and attributes of the Professional Retirement Plan Advisor.
  • Sharing professional standards with plan sponsors who are responsible for the success of their plans.
  • Providing collective thought capital to decision makers, product providers, legislators and the public.
  • Giving voice to the retirement plan advisor community
  • Offering tools to evaluate advisors to ensure the quality of services provided.
