Retirement Plan Advisor Jania E. Stout, AIF® Joins the Retirement Advisor Council

East Granby, CT – March 5, 2015 Jania E. Stout, AIF® has joined the Retirement Advisor Council effective January 1, 2015. 

As Co-Founder and Managing Director of Fiduciary Plan Advisors at Hightower, Ms. Stout is responsible for delivering full-service consulting to 401(k), 403(b), profit-sharing, government 457, 457(b), 457(f), 409(a) nonqualified deferred compensation and traditional defined benefit plans.  Ms. Stout and her team are highly committed to participant education – not limited to 401(k) plan education but also budgeting and financial wellness.

Ms. Stout was nominated for a seat on the Council in September 2014.  The Nomination Committee recommended her application for Council membership after a comprehensive review process that took multiple factors into consideration including her creativity in executing a service model built around the “four pillars of fiduciary duty” as well as her focus on compliance, plan design and financial health.  The Executive Board of the Council approved Ms. Stout’s nomination in January 2015.

“The Retirement Plan Advisor is critical to providing fiduciary responsibility with loyalty, prudence, diversification and compliance,” said Ms. Stout.  “As a member of the Retirement Advisory Council I hope to expand the visibility and recognition of the Retirement Plan Advisor within the financial services community.”

The Retirement Advisor Council is a national organization that advocates for successful qualified plan and participant retirement outcomes through the collaborative efforts of experienced, qualified retirement plan advisors, investment managers and defined contribution plan service providers.  To advance its mission, the Council undertakes initiatives in the areas of research, public relations and promotion, general public education, regulatory positions and practice management.  The Council accomplishes this mission by:

  • Identifying duties, responsibilities, and attributes of the Professional Retirement Plan Advisor.
  • Sharing professional standards with plan sponsors who are responsible for the success of their plans.
  • Providing collective thought capital to decision makers, product providers, legislators and the public.

  • Offering tools to evaluate advisors to ensure the quality of services provided.
