Retirement Plan Advisor John Clark, C(k)P Joins the Retirement Advisor Council

East Granby, CT – John Clark, C(k)P, has joined the Retirement Advisor Council effective January 1, 2016.

Mr. Clark is a Vice President of Retirement Plans at Heffernan Retirement Services in San Francisco, California. He works with a diverse group of 15 professionals who focus on retirement planning services but are well versed in all Heffernan products and services, including property/casualty insurance and wealth management. Their clients, which are a mixture of businesses and not-for-profit institutions, represent 130 plans for 35,000 participants with $2.2 billion in assets.  
Mr. Clark was nominated for a seat on the Council in November 2015.  The Nomination Committee recommended his application for Council membership after a comprehensive review process that took multiple factors into consideration including his passion for employee education and his understanding and dedication to delivering that education in a format that individuals will use. The Executive Board of the Council approved Mr. Clark’s nomination in January 2016.
“We have a lot of work to do in order to get the younger generation of workers to understand how their retirement plans fit into their overall savings and debt obligations. I am looking forward to learning what others are doing and to work together on potential solutions” said Mr. Clark.
The Retirement Advisor Council is a national organization that advocates for successful qualified plan and participant retirement outcomes through the collaborative efforts of experienced, qualified retirement plan advisors, investment managers and defined contribution plan service providers.  To advance its mission, the Council undertakes initiatives in the areas of research, public relations and promotion, general public education, regulatory positions and practice management.  The Council accomplishes this mission by:

  • Sharing professional standards with plan sponsors who are responsible for the success of their plans.
  • Providing collective thought capital to decision makers, product providers, legislators and the public.
  • Giving voice to the retirement plan advisor community.
  • Offering tools to evaluate advisors to ensure the quality of services provided.
